It has been an action-packed few months at 1st Holgate! From our youngest Squirrels exploring the local community to our Explorers shaping the future of York Scouting, the “Skills for Life” spirit is thriving across every section.

We’ve just released our April 2026 Newsletter, and it is bursting with stories of badge-earning, campfire-lighting, and community-building.

Highlights from this edition:

  • Beavers and Squirrels: Our youngest members have been busy learning BSL with Gretta the hearing dog, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with some traditional Ceilidh dancing, and exploring the new Acomb Library.
  • Cubs and Scouts: From the brain-teasing Hergarth Challenge to the muddy adventures of the Snowball Plantation expedition, our Cubs and Scouts have been putting their teamwork and outdoor skills to the ultimate test.
  • Explorers: A massive well done to our Explorers who spent an adventurous weekend at Walesby Forest and those who represented 1st Holgate at the City of York District Youth Forum.
