Tips and tricks

  • Try not to tie anything on the outside of your rucksack.  It nearly always falls off or gets snagged on something.  The only real exception to this is your roll mat which is difficult to put inside.
  • Everything should be named and put into bags before putting in a rucksack.
  •  It’s a good idea to put a bin bag in your rucksack first and then put all your kit in that to keep it dry if it is raining when we get on site.
  • Please don’t send kit (especially sleeping bags) in bin or carrier bags!

The Scout association have a great factsheet on kit lists and packing which can be found here.
